    Working under frequent supervision, the position will support research focused on investigating the etiology and mechanism(s) of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which are a family of chronic intestinal inflammatory disorders affecting the GI tract.     Working under limited supervision, the technician will assist with the collection, processing, and analysis of sleep tests of children and adults. The incumbent will work in a large NIH-funded Sleep Research Center involved with assuring that research quality sleep studies are collected and scored using rigorous, standardized and highly reliable approaches, and data from these studies are reported to the NIH and collaborating investigators on a regular basis. Among the studies supported are the Randomized Controlled Study Of Adenotonsillectomy for Childhood Sleep Apnea, Asthma and Nocturnal Hypoxemia in Sickle Cell Anemia Study and the Hispanic Community Health Study, the largest study of minority health ever conducted in the US. Work on industry-sponsored studies may also be encountered using the same rigorous standards.
