Wiki @ Case

June 15, 2005

Information Technology Services is pleased to announce the launch of a university hosted Wiki service, available at http://wiki.case.edu.

Hawaiian for "quick," Wiki offers a unique approach to collaborative content creation. In contrast to the traditional approach where one person, generally referred to as the "webmaster," is always in control of content, on a wiki-hosted page, multiple authors can create or edit content. Fundamentally Wiki is a change from the read-only web to the read/write web where users not only consume information but also provide it interactively.

The rise of Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia (http://wikipedia.org), has shown that such a collaborative approach to creating and editing content can enhance the breadth and depth of knowledge in any particular subject area.

Case's Wiki Service is only writable by Case users, but anyone can access the content. To get started, go to http://wiki.case.edu. If you need help, try the help page at http://wiki.case.edu/Help:Contents. Questions, comments, and general feedback can be sent to wiki-admin@case.edu.
