Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 Now Available

November 21, 2007

Symantec Endpoint Protection 11, the next version of Symantec AntiVirus, is now available on the Software Center for Case students, faculty and staff running the Windows operating system. This product replaces Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition, but being the next generation of that product, it simply installs over existing AntiVirus installations. No uninstall is needed.

Symantec Endpoint Protection is a comprehensive product that combines Antivirus, Antispyware, Firewall and Intrusion Prevention in a unified product with lower resource requirements than previous versions. If you are running Windows Firewall and/or Windows Defender, the Symantec Endpoint Protection installer will automatically turn those products off and configure its own firewall and antispyware protection to optimize security for your computer.

There are versions of Symantec Endpoint Protection available for 32 bit or 64 bit machines. Vista is fully supported in both versions, along with Windows 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000 SP3. Please see full systems requirements on the Software Center download page.

Symantec Endpoint Protection combines Symantec AntiVirus with advanced threat prevention to deliver an unmatched defense against malware for laptops, desktops, and servers. It provides protection against even the most sophisticated attacks that evade traditional security measures, such as rootkits, zero-day attacks, and mutating spyware.

Symantec Endpoint Protection delivers more than world-class, industry-leading antivirus and antispyware signature-based protection. It also provides advance threat prevention that protects endpoints from targeted attacks and attacks not seen before. It includes turnkey, proactive technologies that automatically analyze application behaviors and network communications to detect and block suspicious activities. This multilayered approach significantly lowers risks and gives you the confidence that your computer is protected.
