Microsoft DNS Vulnerability Now Botnet Target

Case Staff responsible for departmental servers are advised to take immediate mitigating actions on their Windows-based servers in response to an unpatched vulnerability in the Microsoft DNS Vulnerability (Security Advisory 935964).

Affected platforms are Windows 2000 Server SP4, Windows 2003 SP1 and SP2.

The botnets, called rinbot and Delbot (see for details)

Case Networking and Security will be taking aggressive actions to curb any botnet activities and soften the impact of any malicious activity.
