The month of march seems to be 'spear phishing season' for Case and other universities, which may be a variant of March Madness.
Today some Case users received a "Dear Webmail Subscriber..." email message from an address called 'support case.edu' that is a fraudulent email requesting users to send their userID and password.
Users should disregard this message, or call the Case Help Desk at 368-HELP to request further assistance.
Read on to see and example of the message.
The bogus message was:
Dear case.edu Webmail Subscriber,
To complete your case.edu Webmail account, you must reply to this
email immediately and enter your password here (*********)
Failure to do this will immediately render your email address
deactivated from our database.
You can also confirm your email address by logging into your
case.edu Webmail account at https://webmail.case.edu
