Police deputy dumps disabled man on the floor
When I saw this, I was like "WTF???"
The video itself is quite a shock. Basically, a Hillsborough County deputy dumped a quadriplegic inmate out of his wheelchair and onto the floor. Apparently, the deputy did not believe 32-year-old Brian Sterner was a paraplegic (corrected). Sterner broke his neck almost 14 years ago. He was in the station because he was arrested for a traffic violation.
After he fell down, the deputy and another officer proceeded to frisk him.
The video shows several people in the room at the time of the incident, and none of them came to Sterner's aide.
The sheriff in charge did not know about the incident until the local news station showed him his own security tapes of the event.
The news crew also reported that no written report was made because it was determined that it did not offend or worry any inmates at the jail. (another WTF?)
As the investigation continues, the deputy shown on the video dumping Sterner onto the floor has been suspended without pay. Two other officers were placed on administrative leave with pay.

"The best I could do is offer him our apologies. There's no excuse. This is indefensible. To the extent that we can make it right for this gentleman, we'll attempt to do so."

Only African Americans were in the room when she dumped the quadriplegic (? he appears to be para, not quad) on the floor. Others appeared a little later to help but they were not in the room when she abused him, otherwise she would not have done so in the first place.
This appears to be racially motivated abuse of the disabled, already noted as a growing problem in nursing homes.
