Idiocracy
Remember Office Space, directed by Mike Judge? It's the comedy movie where workers who hate their jobs decide to rebel against their snooty boss. To this day, we still joke about "TPS reports", "Bob and Bob", and "What's Happening?"
Well, it seems Judge created another film called Idiocracy. It was supposed to premiere back in September but somehow it ended up on the blacklist and got a very limited release. It's now available on DVD.
An average Joe (quite literally in fact) played by Luke Wilson working as an Army Librarian is tapped for an experiment in human hibernation along with a prostitute played indelibly by Maya Rudolph, whose work on SNL has yet to vindicate her appearance in actual film. Because of the predictable incompetence of the Army, our hibernatees are left in their pods for 500 years, to wake up and find that the world has changed into a haven for stupidity, where natural selection has reversed and stupidity is rewarded evolutionarily due to mass breeding by the uneducated.
You can find trailers and clips throughout the internet, and of course a bootleg copy somewhere on YouTube.
You would love the beginning of the film when the narrator does an overview on how the human race was destroyed. The smart people had a low birth rate because they focus so much on career and financial status. The idiotic folks have a high birth rate because they just love to do it. The smart folks die off, and the idiots just get dumber and dumber.
It's funny to see how our world just gets stupid. Things like proper speech are forgotten. It's a biting satire that rips into the culture of laziness and stupidity that America has created.
Oh yea, and Costco & a sports drink take over the world.
