Screw the PTC! End of Las Vegas series?
The first sad news is that the Parents Television Council (PTC) filed an indecency complaint with the FCC on the February 15th episode where it cited a scene on the fictional Montecito Casino's security monitors showing three women disrobing and running around the casino naked.
Of course if you look at the scene in question, the editors did a pretty good job blurring out the naughty parts. Also, the scene wasn't concentrated on the girls running around the casino naked; it was part of the plot designed to distract the main characters.
But the PTC doesn't care about that. All they care is that the "children are watching." Then tell those bloody children to go to sleep at 8pm instead of 9 or 10pm. Or tell the parents to change the bloody channel or filter it. Sheesh.
Besides the FCC complaint, they made their protest with the show's sponsors too. I really wish those sponsors can just say, "screw you PTC and leave us alone."
Unfortunately, the second piece of sad news is that NBC announced they were cancelling the five-year series.
This sucks. It's their fault for moving the show from Monday to Friday nights which is known for low-ratings. Of course, the final episode of the 5th season was a cliffhanger. We need to know what will happen to Danny and Delinda's pregnancy/baby, and if Cooper manages to keep the casino.
Fans of the show have created a web site - "Save Las Vegas: Operation Baby Booties" - and they're demanding a proper resolution for the series.
Series' creator, Gary Scott Thompson has also expressed his disappointment with the abrupt ending. In a Q&A with TV Guide he states: "The strike did us in. We had three more episodes to shoot for the season, which we didn't get done. And the 'To be continued ...' was actually supposed to be the first part of a two-parter. But that's as far as we got." When asked if he holds out any hope of being a able to deliver a real ending to the fans in some form; TV movie, direct to DVD, etc., he states "This is Las Vegas; there's always hope."

It does kinda suck. I guess we could blame the writers' strike because the end result would hurt shows like Las Vegas which do pretty well, but not great in the ratings but come with decent plots and storylines.
They should have moved the show from Friday to either Monday or Tuesday. NBC is at fault for starting the countdown that would eventually end the series.
Perhaps another network can pick up the series.
