Robert Reich, Obama's Economic Adviser must learn about giving the job to the most qualified

REICH: …”I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high-skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers…I have nothing against white male construction workers, I’m just saying there are other people who have needs as well.”

He prefers that infrastructure funds should go to projects that hire minorities, less skilled workers, and the unemployed. Do you want your bridge or tunnel built by these people? Honestly!

He assumes that the highly skilled and the most qualified construction workers are white male workers and they should not be hired to help rebuild our infrastructure.

I voted for Obama, and wasn't sure who Reich was until I saw this on CSPAN2. I think he is a little nuts. If we develop jobs they need to go to the more productive and qualified person who the job.

I am so fed up with jobs having to go to under qualified because they need to represented in the work force. It just can't start there. It has to start from the bottom up with a good education and solid foundation of work ethic, by groups who fill they are under represented.

Understandably, there are many times where someone with equal skills and qualifications is not hired because of their skin color or gender. But this is not the case at this moment. If companies bring in workers who can not work as efficiently, then the company will not be able to be as efficient and eventually it will cost more money to the business.

I've heard that using the Credit Unions as part of the solution to the 'Too Big To Fail" banks dilema is feasible. I've heard that going to the local bank system would be a viable, cost-effective solution. I've not heard Roberts Reich speak to this posssibility. I'd like to know his thoughts on the subject.
