PETA comments on Obama's fly swatting

What a waste of newspaper space! The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA-nonsense) scolded President Obama for not taking a more humane attitude with the fly he swatted during an interview for CNBC.

PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich
"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest, and least sympathetic animals. We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."

Give me a second to say "UGH!!!"

It doesn't end there. PETA is sending Obama the Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allow users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

Thankfully, White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest had no comment.

Let's hope this piece of news dies quickly.

Campaign For Liberty Staffer Detained by TSA

From Campaign for Liberty

April 6, 2009

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Campaign for Liberty’s very own Steve Bierfeldt has become an unexpected Internet sensation -- and the latest target of over-reaching federal government agents.

You see, Steve was detained by Airport Police and TSA officials shortly after the Campaign for Liberty regional conference in St. Louis.

The officials rudely berated and harassed Steve for 30 minutes in a secluded room at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Fortunately, Steve was able to record nearly all of the interrogation with his cell phone.

Steve’s alleged “crime”? Carrying $4,700 in checks and cash from Campaign for Liberty, along with various other materials from our conference.

The local and Federal agents harassed Steve. They were belligerent, cursing and using insulting language. They threatened to turn Steve over to the DEA and the FBI, all the while refusing to inform him of his legal rights or explain how cash and checks threatened airplane or airport security.

Throughout the interrogation, Steve remained polite but resolute and declined to answer the invasive questions without an adequate explanation from these federal and local agents as to why they needed to be answered. Without telling Steve what law he was accused of breaking, they continued their harassment.

Although they grew increasingly frustrated that he remained committed to exercising his rights, intervention from another officer eventually led the police to reluctantly release Steve.

Last Wednesday, Steve appeared on Judge Napolitano’s Freedom Watch to discuss the flagrant violation of his rights and to promote the importance of each of us defending our civil liberties.

Now, Steve’s appearance on Freedom Watch – which features several minutes of the audio tape – has gone viral.

Steve’s ordeal is a reminder to all patriots that liberty is constantly under fire, and we must remain vigilant and prepared to stand up for our rights.

In Liberty,

John Tate

Monster Madness - Monster Cable goes after Monster MiniGolf

Monster Cable, known for their expensive and overpriced audio/video cables have sued Monster MiniGolf for trademark infringement.

Monster MiniGolf is a family startup by Patrick & Christina Vitagliano glow-in-the-dark monster-themed minigolf franchise with 23 locations.

The lawsuit alleges that consumers may not be able to tell the difference between the cable and minigolf stores.

It would seem that Monster Cable has a bout of an evil ego. Do folks really think Monster MiniGolf would be selling video/audio cables at every hole?

Monster Cable has also sued Disney for Monsters, INC, the Boston Red Sox for the "Monster Seats" on the big green monster, and is currently trying to keep them from calling the concession stand "Monster Concessions."

Link (Consumerist.com)

Link (eBay - Monster MiniGolf Coupon)

Link (News10)

Update 12/15/2008

So Monster Cable goes and registers monsterminigolftruth.com linking it to their truth page. It offers to dismiss the lawsuit on the following conditions:

1) MonsterMiniGolf pays $100 per month per franchise to MonsterCable

2) MonsterCable would then donate the $100 per month to The Elf Foundation or Creating Rooms of Magic, or Seg4Vets: Segways for Disabled Veterans

3) MonsterMiniGolf can keep their name

A real olive branch? But it would mean that MonsterMiniGolf would agree that MonsterCable is correct that its trademark is being infringed despite that many customers would know to distinguish an audio/video store and a mini-golf playground.

It would make sense if it were MonsterAudio versus MonsterCable, but really, how can they keep arguing that MonsterMiniGolf would be confusing to their customers.

I even find it stupid for them to go after Monster.com way back, and even trying to sue the Boston Red Sox because of their green monster.

Sorry, you're not getting me on your side.

Too Much Obama

The Obama gold coin

The Obama cookie

The Obama commerative plate

The Obama farecard

The Obama wristband

The Obama Flag

Ok, he won, congrats. but please stop it with all this advertising for Obama-this, Obama-that.

It's going to get crazy when Rosetta Stone starts offering the Obama edition and you can learn how to do run-on sentences! Yep, the media was making fun of him for that, and there are indeed jokes when he started using complete sentences in his speeches, and there were rumors on that too.

Still, enough with all those infomercials!

Have a good weekend all! I am off to London for a week.

A.M. for President!

School District accuses teacher of wizardry

A substitute teacher in the Pasco County school district was dismissed from his position from Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes for wizardy.

Apparently, he did a 30-second magic trick where a toothpick disappears and reappears.

When the local news crew asked the school for a further explanation, the district also alleged that the teacher had performance issues, including "not following lesson plans" and allowing students to play on unapproved computers.

Of course, these additional reasons were not known to the teacher.

I bet they did not wanted to be embarassed for firing a person because of a simple magic trick.

I guess I can cross off Land 'O Lakes as a place to live in.

US Marine Throws Dead Puppy Off Cliff (viewer discretion)

It looks like the puppy is dead, seeing that it failed to move while the soldier is holding it. The sounds emitted after the marine throws the puppy off the cliff could be fake.

But why do it in the first place? Were they bored? Who knows...it could be only a dead puppy, then maybe they will start throwing dead bodies next and mimic their dying cries.

It's pretty sick.

Man Records Phishing Call

WSLS TV station reports about a fellow citizen receiving a phishing call claiming to be with the government.

The scammer claimed he was calling from the United States Banking Commission (which does not exist). The closest thing is the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

He told Howard Beasley that they took $481 out of his checking account and they needed his account number so they can re-deposit the money.

Beasley recorded the 10-minute conversation.

* * * * *

This must be the dumbest phisher I have ever heard. Even though he has Mr. Beasley's home address and threatens him to come to his house, the husband remains unfazed.

I am surprised the guy just didn't just hang up. Why stay on the call for that long? Imagine if it was a phone sting operation, they would be able to trace that call and catch him.

Ridiculous: 134 pound cheeseburger

CNN video link - news link

134 pounds. yep. so Mallie's Sports Grill and Bar in Southgate got the distinction of having the world's largest cheeseburger.

who really gives a sh*t.

if you want to eat one of those heart-attack inducing meals, it will cost you $399.00 plus 24-hour notice.

now they have to wait for authentication by the Guinness Book of World Records. are you telling me you did not have any official rep there for the unveiling?????

now that monster is going to stink up the place.

who is going to eat a stale 134-pound burger after it gets verified? no one!!!

total waste of food. total waste of time. do you know how many starving kids you can feed with that sh*t???

Shopper knocked out over aisle space

Link to story and security camera video

A shopper trying to pay up at a corner deli and he gets laid out with a haymaker. The customer's nightmare unfolded innocently enough as he was standing at the counter paying for some items just after midnight on Jan. 6. The shopper, a white man wearing a white coat, suddenly gets walloped by a black man in a dark vest and gray hoodie. Thanks to the deli's security cameras, police now have a fairly clear picture of the assailant as the entire sordid affair was captured from several angles.

Apparently, it was all over aisle space. In one part of the deli, the aisle was quite narrow so only 1 or 2 people can get by.

The black assailant left the deli. The rest of his posse goes over to the man and takes his money.

Police deputy dumps disabled man on the floor

When I saw this, I was like "WTF???"

See Video

The video itself is quite a shock. Basically, a Hillsborough County deputy dumped a quadriplegic inmate out of his wheelchair and onto the floor. Apparently, the deputy did not believe 32-year-old Brian Sterner was a paraplegic (corrected). Sterner broke his neck almost 14 years ago. He was in the station because he was arrested for a traffic violation.

After he fell down, the deputy and another officer proceeded to frisk him.

The video shows several people in the room at the time of the incident, and none of them came to Sterner's aide.

The sheriff in charge did not know about the incident until the local news station showed him his own security tapes of the event.

The news crew also reported that no written report was made because it was determined that it did not offend or worry any inmates at the jail. (another WTF?)

As the investigation continues, the deputy shown on the video dumping Sterner onto the floor has been suspended without pay. Two other officers were placed on administrative leave with pay.

* * * * *

From Fox News:

The deputy in question is Charlotte Marshall Jones. She has been part of the Hillsborough County police since 1986.

Chief Deputy Jose Docobo:
"The best I could do is offer him our apologies. There's no excuse. This is indefensible. To the extent that we can make it right for this gentleman, we'll attempt to do so."

The Anti-Bake Police of Salem, MA

This year's Christmas grinch comes in the form of Salem Health Agent Joanne Scott and the town government.

They have decided to ban bake sales at schools, churches, and senior centers.

In the words of Joanne Scott, it's her job "to interpret the food code for the city and she exempts only places serving baked goods within their own closed community, not to the general public." Basically, she has declared that private citizens and their baked goods are not safe for general public consumption.

If you want to have a bake sale, you must purchase a city-issued food permit. As a further condition, all the food must be prepared in a city-licensed kitchen.

It has been heard that when Scott learned about a bake sale at a local senior center, she ordered them to either comply with the proper government authorization or shut down. Since the senior center did not have a kitchen, the bake sale was cancelled.

* * * * * *

A bah humbug to Salem's government for being naughty. What a nice way of being a bake 'Nazi.' I did not realize Christmas cookies and brownies are a threat to public safety.

Maybe we should encourage secret bake sales. Resistance La Cake!!!

Fined $347,000 for trimming trees without a permit

Consumerist.com has the story

Yes, let's protect the trees, but wait, they're too close to the house, but wait you need a permit first to cut the trees, then approval by the city's forester, and so on and so forth.

But $347,000???

Look at the family and home? Do you really think they were some sort of big shot rich people? Was this an effort to tell everyone else in the neighborhood not to touch the trees in their yard or else?

The Collard home is in a relatively high danger zone for wildfire and that's why the Fire Department told them they needed to trim back flammable plants

It seems that the publicity was focused the idiocy of charging such a HUGE fine.

Another fine example of a bureaucratic nightmare by your local government.

LA Times has the story too.

I find it quite amusing for the arborist to state the value of the trees to be worth as much as $100,000. Hell, I would like to cut that tree and sell it on eBay.

'Jena Six' Members Present Hip Hop Award on BET

jena6boys1.jpgBryant Purvis and Carwin Jones (Jena 6) showed up on the red carpet at the BET Awards over the weekend, and took in the after party, too. Um, why? Are they celebrities now? Does this make anybody else out there pause?

Show's host, comedian Katt Williams:

"By no means are we condoning a six-on-one beat-down," Williams said during his introduction of the teens, one of whom is still facing attempted murder charges in connection with the attack on white student Justin Barker. "... But the injustice perpetrated on these young men is straight criminal."

Both Jones and Purvis thanked a number of people, including family, friends, the "Hip-Hop Nation" and the thousands who came to their small hometown to rally behind their case.

Purvis said the Sept. 20 rally proved "our generation can unite and rally around a cause."

The teens assisted Williams in presenting the Video of the Year honor to Kanye West for "Stronger." Purvis handed the award to West, who in turn shook hands with both teens.

* * * * *

Thank you for glorifying the gangsta sh*t on the both of them. I would have expected better. Why not dressed them up in nice-fitted suits like Williams? Instead, you dress them up as thugs.

Thank you for telling us that they can achieve "hero status" for beating up a fellow classmate.

And a thumbs down to the audience for giving them a standing ovation. Nice way for them to condone their actions. They still charged with assaulting a fellow classmate and they must be punished for what did regardless.

9/11 truthers believe the B-52 incident is a conspiracy

Conspiracy theorists believe that the B-52 incident was a bungled attempt by Vice President Cheney to nuke Iran.

Basically, a B-52 bomber was mistakenly loaded with five nuclear advanced cruise missiles (ACMs) and was flown from Minot Air Force Base, N.D., to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., on Aug 30, resulting in an Air Force investigation. The B-52 was loaded with the ACMs, as part of a Defense Department effort to decommission 400 of these missiles.

The Advanced Cruise Missile carries a W80-1 warhead with an estimated yield of 5 to 150 kilotons.

While it is true that the weapons were under Air Force supervision and control at all times, the problem was that the warheads should have never left Minot AFB. Thus, it was unaccounted for approx 3 1/2 hours.

* * * * *

The crazy folks think that the plane was part of a covert mission to Iran since Barksdale AFB is the staging area for deployment to the Middle East. Also, the Pentagon recently drew up plans for a multi-prong assault against Iran. They believe that some disgrunted members of the military chose to alert the public fearing that the warheads would be used as a pre-emptive nuclear strike against Iran.

The 9/11 truthers applaud the discovery... "the world has been spared a devastating nuclear war by courageous American airmen who revealed the true contents of an otherwise routine B-52 landing at Barksdale AFB headed for a covert nuclear mission to the Middle East."

It could all be just an innocent mistake.

In fact, even if nuclear weapons were to be used against Iran, it would require nuclear bunker bombs in order to destroy their hardened nuclear facilities and underground. The ACM missiles are probably not designed for that. Hard to confirm, but at least think about it.

Another act of obliviousness by humans

Is there no respect for life or have the compassion or will to stop and render aid?

It would seem not the case in Kansas.

LaShanda Calloway was stabbed at a convenience store and lay dying on the floor. It took about two minutes for someone to call 911.

Store surveillance video showed five shoppers entering the store and ignored the woman laying on the floor. Four of them stepped over the room and continued shopping. One had the audacity to take out her cell phone and take a picture of the dying woman and proceeded to continue shopping.

Police spokesman Gordon Bassham: "It was tragic to watch. The fact that people were more interested in taking a picture with a cell phone and shopping for snacks rather than helping this innocent young woman is, frankly, revolting."

The stabbing victim later died at a hospital.

The police so far have refused to release the video, saying it is part of their investigation. I can't wait for it. I think myself and many others want to showcase the video to find out the five people that may have attributed to the victim's death.

According to Kansas state law, there's no applicable legislation that covers this. There is a state statute for failure to render aid for victims of a car accident. Having the compassion and respect to render aid should be an unwritten rule that all of us must have.

Of course it reminds me of the final episode of Jerry Seinfeld when the group ignored the ongoing carjacking and were arrested for violating the Good Samaritan law.

Police Brutality against kid skateboarders

Skateboarders know that the annual Go Skateboarding Day is pretty much NO Skateboarding Day in the eyes of law enforcement. We’ve all had our fair share of testosterone-fueled police power trips, but sometimes luck’s on our side, and we have the video camera rolling while their dirty hooves are pushed against our backs.

Last week, a few kids in Arkansas were out skating for Go Skating Day and had a run-in with an officer. Unfortunately, the kids fought the law, and the law won. But thanks to a really smart videographer and Youtube, the skateboarders are about to really raise disorderly conduct.

If this angers you, then you’re a normal, red-blooded human being.

He chokes out the first kid, chases another, puts a girl and another guy in a headlock, and it's all caught on video.

Oh and just in case you were interested, the officer’s name is Joey Williams, and he works for the:
Hot Springs Arkansas Police Department
Phone: (501) 321-6789
Fax: (501) 321-6708
Chief of Police, Bobby Southard
Email: bsouthard@cityhs.net

You know, just in case you were wondering.

Scientology Controls Riverside County, CA

Here's another town or county, in addition to Clearwater, FL, that you should not live in if you choose to become a critic of Scientology or if you are just basically against them.

Keith Henson is an engineer, scientist, and Scientology critic. Apparently, in 2000, he was picketing the Scientology's "armed" compound at Gilman Hot Springs, north of Hemet, CA. It would seem there was a freak accident where a young woman was killed when a crew working for the cult left their skiploader vehicle sticking out on the dark highway and she got decapitated.

So how did Henson get arrested? It would seem that he was browsing the Usenet group, alt.religion.scientology, and there was a thread about sending in "Tom Cruise missiles." So he responded to that thread. By doing so, Scientology got Mr. Henson arrested and he was charged with outrageous counts such as making terrorist threats, stalking, and harassment.

It went to court, and Henson was at a clear disadvantage. Scientology had the cash, its numerous whining witnesses, and a judge that was clearly "bought" by the organisation. Mr. Henson's lawyer could not mount a sufficient defense, was not allowed to mention the word "Scientology" and his witnesses were not allowed to give testimony. In the end, he was found guilty of interfering with a religion, a misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to a year in jail.

Since he knew that he won't be safe at Riverside, he wanted to relocate to Canada. Scientology told Canadian authorities that he was a danger. Henson had no choice but to return back to the states.

He was later arrested in Arizona and is awaiting extradition to Riverside County to complete his jail sentence.

Now, his lawyer is unable to communicate with him, his wife is not allowed to visit him, and Keith Henson cannot even get his medication. Meanwhile, the Scientology machine is going full-tilt, using anonymous postings, web sites, and other means of communication to tell everyone that Henson is a dangerous pedophile and a child molester.

There is currently an online petition to get Keith Hanson pardoned.

As such, if you want more details on this person and the trouble that Scientology is giving him, visit http://www.operatingthetan.com/.

Thanks to Daily Kos for publicising this terrible story.

Here are the detailed charges against Keith Henson. Quite ridiculous.

If you live in Riverside County, CA, do not get Judge Robert H. Wallerstein to preside over your case.

TSA airport security could be a bit more humane

tsa_security.jpgClearly, the attitude of TSA security personnel differ from city to city, state to state. Getting through security is probably one of the most frustrating times while at the airport. I will always appreciate the elite line where I can get through there as fast as possible.

Last Friday, I was travelling from Newark (EWR) to Cleveland (CLE). While in the security line, I was already done with taking off the shoes, separating the laptop from my backpack, and holding my passport and ticket. The TSA staff member was standing as usual behind the security detector, loudly proclaiming the do's and dont's.

A fellow female traveller in front of me, looks to be Japanese, placed her belongings on the conveyor belt and walked through the detector. Unfortunately, the alarm went off. The TSA person looked at her with a stern eye, and stated in a loud voice about making sure your pockets are empty. Of course, it looks clear to the other travellers that she did not comprehend English, but this fact did not seem to soothe the security officer. She kept on loudly telling her to empty her pockets but she still could not understand. It took another passenger to use hand gestures to get her to empty her pockets, a wallet and some change.

She tried to walk through the detector again, but alas, the alarm went off. Clearly, the security officer was not happy at all. She again loudly berated her about making sure everything metal was off her body. For the rest of us, we probably all knew that it was her cap, but no one spoke. The TSA officer did not even do anything to really help out the situation. All she did for the japanese girl was to mimic like a soldier when walking through the detector. After the second try, the TSA member directed her to stand next to the security detector while the rest of us walked through.

As I was putting on my shoes and putting my laptop in my backpack, I can still see the girl, looking confused as ever, stand there while the loud TSA officer continued to voice the do's and dont's. She did not even signal to another staff member to help out. Some sort of punishment for not obeying her?

One way this could have been avoided was having another TSA officer along the conveyor belt helping or directing passengers to take off their coats, metal belts, laptops out of the backpack, shoes, and what not. There wasn't any. It was a busy Friday, yet if they had just one or two staff person helping out, such a thing would not occur.

Holocaust, Hitler, Abortion - Blame Darwin

A new video documentary suggests that we should blame Charles Darwin for the Holocaust and abortion. Titled "Darwin’s Deadly Legacy," the stunning documentary shows that Darwinian theory, "which is scientifically bankrupt, has probably been responsible for more bloodshed than anything else in the history of humanity," Jerry Newcomb, one of the program's two co-producers, told WorldNetDaily.

Are we on the verge of insanity? Let's hope natural selection will help get rid of the crackpots and extremists that are throwing the rest of us into the fire.
