USA Today

As Jeremy was quick to point out, Case (specifically Undergraduate Admission) got at least some positive press today. From USA Today:

The day after the Super Bowl, the undergraduate admissions office at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland e-mailed 108 high school seniors in the Pittsburgh area to congratulate them on the Steelers' victory.

Credit for this particularly fine bit of targeted communication has to go to my awesome officemate, Lisa, who both came up with the idea and executed it. You rock, Lis!

The technology that lets us do stuff like this is pretty cool. We interface with our service provider using an XML data exchange. TargetX allows us to target students via email using any variable we provide them with, but also has some built in functionality to target major metropolitan areas (which is what Lisa used in this case), in addition to tracking things like email open rates, interaction rates, and opt outs.
