Well, no one gets to that level by taking personal responsibility for things. It's not all that surprising that they'd let him blather in order to 'leave gracefully'.
It's interesting to see that the vote of no-confidence still carries weight in some schools. 'Round here, the board might just as easily have shrugged.
Next year is going to suck around here anyway, so it would have been nice if he stayed to "enjoy" it with the rest of us. This could be a good thing, if they find a good fund-raiser who can really squeeze the eagle. The danger is that after he succeeds in that, the place might stagnate.
