Santa an easy job? Think again

One-third of all Santas reported having been wet on by a child, the survey said.

Nearly 90 percent of Santas said children pull their beard every day to see if it's real, and nearly half said children try to pull their glasses off every day as well, it said.

More than 60 percent of Santas said they were sneezed or coughed upon up to 10 times each day, and three-quarters said they have up to 10 children cry while sitting on their laps every day, it said.

I think I'll stick to library work. Though at this time of the semester, I could use a little ho-ho-ho.

I can't imagine it pays all that well. I would like to see a nation-wide Santa strike. That would be my Christmas gift. Or maybe instead, Shakespeare could show up? A Civil War re-enacter? I'm getting ideas.

I don't imagine it does pay well, but if it didn't pay well enough, the jobs would go begging. A strike isn't going to happen though. For one thing, Santas aren't necessary; no mall is going out of business if they don't provide one. And think of the bad PR: "Santas go on strike for higher wages." Still, I like your idea of coming in the wrong character. Dress as Charles Dickens and tell the kids, "You're getting gruel for Christmas, Tiny Tim!"
