Request for Comments: What Features Do You Want for the Blog@Case System?
Shortly, we will be announcing on the front page a couple of items. a) We want volunteers for doing some piloting on group blogs. b) That development work on the Blog@Case system will start revving up again as we push towards removing the "Beta" tag; and we want to know what features the current crop of users most want. (The current list of what is planned will be posted in the announcement on the front page.)
So, this entry is a place holder for people to Trackback to or comment on (Trackback preferred because I want to test it some). Or, you can email us.
So, let 'er rip, what would you like to see.
Would it be possible to put in a button for people who did not want to comment but instead wanted to send us a private email?
Can a global search feature be added? Will there be a site map feature included?
When you go to archives, the monthly calendar at the top right does not change when you select a previous month. Should it?
Looks like you got trackback spammed. Might be a good idea to do a little despamming to get rid of links to sites like the one linked above.
I notice that only the current posting has a date associated with it. Would it be possible to retain the date of posting even in the archived posts?
It woiuld help to have a prominent link somewhere that takes people to the directory of bloggers at
http://blog.case.edu/directory/
A colleague emailed me saying that he tried and failed to find the list of bloggers.

When I use bloglines to read planet case, I can't tell who wrote each entry -- is there a way to associate a username with each title?
When people post a comment to an old posting, it generates an email to the blogger but does not get posted. I found out quite by accident that I have to log in to blog@case, click on the "comments" link, and personally approve the comment. I think that may be the reason why Megan Quick's friend's comment did not get posted.
Could the instructions for doing this be part of the email sent to the blogger?
I think it would be really useful to have a permanent time stamp with each posting. A lot of the blogs I read seem to have this feature.
Done! Instructions and information are located at the FAQ.
You can using the following tags in your templates:
<$MTEntryDate$>
That will stick the date of your entry in your web page.
I'd like to see comments and follow-ups included in the RSS feed. Right now, it only looks like the main post is, but comments are not visible. It would also be nice if the RSS reader (in my case, Thunderbird) were to display comments as a subitem of the original posting.
It would be nice if the RSS feed included comments and tracebacks in addition to the main posting. It would be especially nice if the comments and tracebacks could be displayed as a subthread of the original posting in an RSS reader (e.g., I use Thunderbird).
Kindly add the RSS feeds in Commnets
