When people ask me about the relevancy of <meta name="keywords"..., I can now point to this blog post when telling them that they are, essentially, worthless. (They weren't even mentioned in the article.)
Good article. When I was researching my Intro to SEO article I confirmed that most browsers don't use keywords, though Yahoo may on a limited basis. The important things is for users to use relevant keywords in their content rather than their metatags.
I was intrigued by Jen's comment (in the Google article) about using the keywords tag not for the public, but for the writers of her site—as a reminder to them of the key points. That might actually be quite practical for sites built my multi-person teams.
