Dear Mobile Device OS Manufacturers
Dear Apple, Google (preemptively), Microsoft, Palm, Research In Motion, and Symbian (am I missing anybody):
Please develop versions of your mobile browsers that can be downloaded to my computer so that I can test web sites in them.
For some on the list, there is probably an easier way for you to do this — by moving from your in-house browser and adopting a rendering engine that can already accommodate this. I'll leave that to you guys to decide.
Sincerely,
People Who Are Trying to Make Sites Work on Your Products Despite Your Reluctance to Acknowledge Them
As I discover ways of doing this, I will list them below:
List:
- The iPhone SDK comes with the Aspen Simulator which lets one test web sites in Mobile Safari. It only works on Macs.
- I keep seeing hints at the Windows Mobile for Developers web site that something like this is available, but I cannot find it.
- No, Adobe's Device Central does not count.
- Neither does Device Anywhere.
The iPhone Simulator is free with the SDK, as I understand it. The $99 is for when you want to actually test your application on an actual device and/or upload it for sale/download.
That's correct. I've updated the text to reflect such.

Hey, just wondering if anyone's checked out Satires.net or not. It looked cool but every link goes to an external page. Nice site though!
