Faculty SWOT Survey Results (Dec 2004)

Here are the results of the Faculty SWOT Survey conducted in December. I am pleased to report that more than 70 CSE faculty (of 111) chose to participate. Download the attached Excel file containing six pages. Please select all 6 pages and print to a color printer (14 pages print in total). You will get:

(1) Population (page 1): Summarizes who participated.

(2) Defns (page 2): Helps explain column headings, calculations, and color codes.

(3) AllDescending (pages 3-4): Lists all 37 items in descending order of faculty support.

(4) BySWOT (pages 5-8): Lists each area (strengths, weaknesses, etc.) in descending order of faculty support.

(5) WhoDisagreed (pages 9-11): Identifies to the extent possible (by dept, by rank) who disagreed on those items with least support.

(6) AddedComments (pages 12-14): Lists faculty comments made, verbatim. When it seemed appropriate, these are grouped into like categories.

Many thanks to all faculty who took the time to respond. The results are quite useful in identifying areas of most needed change. In fact, from these results the Strategic Planning Faculty were able to identify specific Strategies and Tactics to guide our next few years. These will be distributed later today through a second faculty survey, for your information and input.

Please don’t hesitate to call me (x1073) or email me (jfh4), or to contact any of the Strategic Planning Faculty if you have any questions. They include: Roberto Ballarini (ECIV), Michael Branicky (EECS), Jinming Gao (EBME), Steve Garverick (EECS), Dan Lacks (ECHE), John Lewandowski (EMSE), Hunter Peckham (EBME), Clare Rimnac (EMAE), and Chris Weder (EMAC), as well as Associate Deans Jim McGuffin-Cawley and Joe Mansour, led by Dean Bob Savinell.
