Career Fair

The career fair was a tremendous learning experience for me. I did not know what to expect or how to approach it. Once I got to the career fair it took me a while to build up enough confidence to approach some of the companies I planned on visiting with. I did not know how they would perceive me or what exactly I would say to them. As such, my plan was to approach a company I had no desire of working for and give them my 30 second sales pitch and see where things went from there. That was the best thing I could have done. In my first approach I felt really stiff and I did not do a good job of selling myself. However, I was able to walk away from the visit and realize what I needed to do differently and make some adjustments. Furthermore, the first visit helped to break me in and loosen me up for the rest of the day. From then on I got better and better at approaching companies and I felt more confident in myself. The best way for me to learn is from experience and because of that I can not be afraid to make mistakes.
