I Wish I Had More Thumbs
This week my girlfriend and I went to go see two films........for those counting that's $34 for four hours of sitting and holding it because it would be an expensive bathroom break. Beyond that point we went to see War of the Worlds and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, both remakes of old mediocre films.
On Monday we saw Mr. Cruise's latest. My capsule review.......wait.....oh here it comes......(fart noise)......oh.....closer.......YEAH IT WAS A PIECE OF SHIT. An overhyped piece of shit. It was a waste of my time and I kept reminding myself that Spielberg was getting his just desserts as Dreamworks had second quarter losses this year. I don't know why, but the only time I was entertained was when the alien tripods were vaporizing the humans close up.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory however took me by surprise. It was an excellent film. I had FUN watching and so did the entire audience around me (it was sold out). Tim Burton just knows how to keep people entertained. It was comedic throughout and never felt either sluggish or rushed. Well worth the money. Johnny Depp as always turned in a fantastic performance of Willy Wonka, I'm sure drawing inspiration from Michael Jackson.

Hahahaha, your blog is awesome, I can practically hear your voice through the posts.
I felt pretty much the opposite on both accounts. I thought War of the Worlds was great because it was immersive and there were few, if any, "people-jumping-onto-moving-alien-spaceships, knocking-out-the-pilots-and-taking-control" Hollywood-esque moments.
I didn't really like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Actually, I liked it until Johnny Depp showed up, and I'm even a fan of him. The intro was especially awesome, but I felt like most of the movie was just a bunch of loosely-related sequences that didn't contribute much to the movie as a whole.
Any chance you'll be in Cleveland before school starts?
