Picked a thesis topic!

I believe I have settled on a thesis topic! Since I'll be working on this for two and a half years, it needs to be a subject I love, so I wanted to go with 'women in childbirth from 1940-1980'. I wasn't sure what argument to make on the topic, though.

After speaking with one of the history department's fabulous professors, I settled on this: American women wanted the same anesthesia European women began receiving, called Twilight Sleep, during labor. It's integration into American hospitals was ultimately detrimental to the health and well-being of the women and children. As a result, a counter movement began to discontinue the use of Twilight Sleep, and proponents of natural birth successfully spoke out.

That's my topic!
