Hay Resources Direct Managerial Style Questionnaire

I did some more searching on the internet for the differing types of managerial styles. I found a questionnaire on the Hay Resources Direct website. Through their research, they identified six managerial styles. These are: coercive, authoritative, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting, and coaching. I found this break down rather interesting because I have not come across a similar break down of managerial styles before. Hay Resources broke the managerial styles down beyond just task vs. people oriented. For example, one of the styles, coaching, was defined as having an emphasis on professional growth of employees. This would obviously be a more people-oriented style. On the other hand, the coercive style is defined as having an emphasis on immediate compliance from employees. I think this is also a people-oriented style, but there are obviously elements of a task-oriented style as well.
