Micromanaging

One of the more highly criticized managerial styles would be that of micromanaging. Micromanaging is basically defined as "To direct or control in a detailed, often meddlesome manner". Personally, I feel micromanaging defeats the entire purpose of having an organization. Why hire people to work for you and then not let them do the job you hired them to do? It makes no sense to me. I think micromanagement is the direct result of one thing: a lack of confidence in one's ability to hire quality people to do the job. I am no expert, but I would be willing to be that the most successful organizations place a strong emphasis on the hiring process.

I agree, I think this is a good observation about businesses.
