Okay, so I said I was going to have a large comment, and I said I would do so about a week ago. Sorry about that.
Just some things I wanted to throw out there that I thought of wihle listening to the episode.
1) Eternal Darkness. You guys slammed it pretty hard, and were having trouble with coming up as to why it was so overrated. Well, I didn't think it was terrible when I played it. Sure, it wasn't the best game ever, but it wasn't terrible. The reason it got so much word of mouth advertising, I thought, was the psychological effects that they put into the game. The hallucinations, resetting, dying, etc. that are built in and give you that "wtf" moment when you are playing, especially if you don't know that it is coming.
2) I agree with Kaz that GTA III was not overrated at all. I thought that when it came out it was revolutionary and basically started a genre. If it wasn't the first of its kind it certainly was the first to blow up like that and make it so popular. Granted, every GTA game after that has been a clone, and not as good, but still, the first one was superb.
3) You guys got on Halo 2 pretty hard for not having good small maps. I went back and did a quick look and thought that Lockout, Midship, and Warlock without actually booting up the game were all decent small game maps. Then again I'm not sure what you mean by small, I guess you mean 4 person maps. Which, if you are playing free for all, I think those maps are good, but if you are playing 2v2 then Halo is the wrong game to be playing in general.
4) I thought the idea of Bill Cosby football sounded like a fantastic idea, and someone should start working on that immediately. Do the voice recording yourself, and just dub it over an old mod of a madden or joe montana or tecmo game. That could easily gain cult status on the glorious interwebs.
5) I know someone mentioned the C&C 2: Red Alert voice acting, and I can't remember if it was a pro or a con. I, personally, thought that it was fantastic. It was so so so terrible that it was hilarious, and I thought there were some ridiculous lines in there as well.
6) The DK 64 or whatever it was officially called definately was not overrated. Everyone I know hated it. I worked in a Funcoland when it came out, and it got terrible press via word of mouth. The catridge was actually "Jungle Green" not "Banana Yellow" and I think most people, as stated, bought it for the expansion pack.
7) I had heard from a friend that the Departed was based on a Korean trilogy. So there should be two more movies planned, and both of those should be based on the other two movies from the Korean series.
8) Some games that I think deserve 10s are: Super Mario World, Metal Gear Solid, God of War, SSMB Melee.
