Introduction to Second Life: Educational Uses of 3D Virtual Learning Environments
October 19, 2010
2:00pm-4:00pm
In this workshop you will be introduced to the 3D virtual world of Second Life. You will see examples of highly successful immersive virtual learning environments for simulations, role play, foreign language practice and real-time meetings. For learning activities that require greater privacy, you will also learn about CWRU’s own private Second Life environment. Brainstorming possible uses of both of these immersive learning environments in and out of the classroom will be encouraged.

Advanced Second Life: Incorporating Immersive Learning Environments into the Curriculum
November 3, 2010
9am-noon
This hands-on workshop will get you up and going in the public and private Second Life platform. You will create an avatar, learn how to move around and communicate in this 3D virtual world. We will explore the Case “islands” and learn how to use the environments that are already available. A tour of Case’s private Second Life will also be conducted.
