Maybe He Should Have Researched the Hiring Policies

There were a lot of comments about the Jonah Creighton made that disturbed me. One in particular was that if minority hiring was a concern of Creighton's, then maybe he should have researched the company's hiring policies before he started working there. In my opinion that's a bunch of bull$#!%. No one expects for a company to be discriminatory especially nowadays and in the US. Another ignorant person stated that a company's demographics on hiring minorities did not matter to her. Well, I would just like to say that African Americans are not the only minorities. So while she might have been meaning that it doesn't matter how many Blacks work around her, she was forgetting that she is also a minority. How soon we forget?

In the business world, we will face many situations that upset us. It's human nature to get emotional, but sometimes these emotions hurt us more than they help us. I understand your point of view, but I would argue that others are just as entitled to theirs. I was the person who said that Jonah should have researched the minority hiring policies before he joined the company, and I stand by my opinion. Getting emotional and calling it a "bunch of bull$#!%" was not the best course of action. I totally understand being passionate about what you believe in, and that is something I respect. However, making it personal and calling people "ignorant" is likely to polarize everyone and make it much less likely that a calm discourse will ever be reached. It is best to keep a cool head, because it is the best way to show respect for others, even if you don't believe the same things.
