About GLOBAL JURIST

GLOBAL JURIST offers a forum for scholarly cyber-debate on issues of comparative law, law and economics, international law, law and development, and legal anthropology. Mindful of globalization and respectful of cultural differences, linguistic and cultural barriers are overcome and legal issues are finally discussed outside of the narrow limits imposed by positivism, parochialism, ethnocentrism, imperialism and chauvinism in the law. Articles are published in three quality-rated tiers - Frontiers, Advances, and Topics - that are distinguished by breadth of appeal and overall quality. The journal is edited by an impressive list, including Ugo Mattei, Alfred and Hanna Fromm Chair in International and Comparative Law at Hastings College of the Law. Authors include notable professors from The London School of Economics, Oxford University, and The University of California, Berkeley.”

Suite of Current Awareness Services for Intellectual Property Law

Tarleton Law Library of The University of Texas School of Law now provides three current awareness services tracking major areas of intellectual property law:

• Current Copyright Literature: Web Page [RSS Feed]
• Current Patent Literature: Web Page [RSS Feed]
• Current Trademark Literature: Web Page [RSS Feed]

The Law Library staff reviews law reviews and journals and many other legal periodicals as they are received in the library. They identify articles concerning U.S. Copyright Law, Patent Law or Trademark Law. Beyond merely providing the basic bibliographic information for the articles, they also supply a scanned first page from each article. The goal is to better enable readers to know if they are interested in reading the full article. Plans are to update the services two to three times a week depending on the volume of cites available.

Thanks to the Law Librarian Blog for bringing this to our attention.

Finding Books (Treatises) for Legal Research

Traditional, print books can be obtained from a variety of sources: the CWRU Law Library or other campus libraries; OhioLINK libraries; or Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

In order to find a book on your topic, try a keyword search on an online catalog. When you find a relevant title, look at the subject headings and click on the hyperlink to find more titles on that subject.

Google Book Search

For most titles, only snippets of related text are available.

Tip: search for content/legal argument in IndexMaster or Google Book Search, then order any useful book you find via OhioLINK or ILL, if it is not available at a CWRU library.

Smaller publishers and advocacy groups may place the full-text of their publications on their websites and/or Google Book Search. Use publications of advocacy groups with caution, of course.

Research sources may provide other relevant book titles, which you can search for by title on any of the online catalogs.
