Interested in Government or the Public Sector but Concerned about Paying off Your Student Loans?
The federal government has passed legislation designed to make careers in the public sector and public interest more affordable for graduates. Our friends at Equal Justice Works have put together a fantastic and FREE webinar that walks students through the requirements and details of this legislation, known as the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA).
Members of your CSO staff took this webinar over the summer and we highly recommend it to you as well. From this interactive webinar you will learn and be able to ask questions about:
- How income-based repayment and public service loan forgiveness work
- How you can ensure you are eligible for loan forgiveness under the program
- What you need to know when you’re still in school to ensure your eligibility and to start budgeting for your student debt
- What steps to take after graduation to enroll in the program and manage your student debt
The webinar is being presented by Heather Jarvis, who is widely-recognized as the national expert on how law school graduates can benefit from the CCRAA.
Spaces in the webinar are limited, so please register online as soon as possible. The webinar is taking place on Thursday, September 3rd from 12:15 – 1:15 pm.

The Fall Interview Program is just one of many tools that you can use for your ongoing job search. To assist with the process of developing your personal job search strategy, be sure to attend the following CSO event:
TUESDAY, September 1: Legal Market Update and Job Searching Beyond the Fall Interview Program.
2Ls and 3L are invited to join staff from the CSO on September 1 in a discussion about the legal market and strategies you can use to execute your job search outside of the Fall Interview Program. 12PM in A57.

Inside Scoop and Summer Job Evaluations
The most recent edition of the Inside Scoop is now available for viewing on Blackboard!
This spreadsheet will be an invaluable tool for you as you explore future summer, school-year, and post-graduate employment. The Inside Scoop is organized by employer names, and following specific employer names you will find the location of the employer, the name of students who have worked there and their email addresses. The CSO counselors often get questions from students asking for “the inside scoop” about employers, and we feel there is no better source than students who have worked for that particular employer. It is the CSO’s hope that students will use this spreadsheet to contact fellow classmates in an effort to gather information about prospective employers. Just a reminder that only fellow law students have access to The Inside Scoop.
Is your summer employment information missing from the Inside Scoop? Just send Candice Storey an email with your information and she'll be sure to update the spreadsheet.
In addition to the Inside Scoop, this year the CSO is excited to share our 2009 Summer Job Evaluation Binder.
Similar to the Inside Scoop, this binder is invaluable in helping students locate and evaluate potential employers. The binder is filled with Summer Job Evaluations, which asks students some basic questions about their summer experiences. The forms are alphabetized by employer and the Summer Job Evaluation Binder is available for viewing in the CSO.
Didn't complete your Summer Job Evaluation Form yet? Stop by the CSO - there are extra copies available in the resource room. Thank you to all who have already completed a SJE form!
