HR Simulation
I believe that working in teams on the simulation is a great way to make the assignment more practical. In my opinion, it serves two purposes at once. It not only allows everyone to perform HR practices in a mock enviroment, it also helps develop teamwork skills. I believe the teamwork skills developed from the assignment are more practical than the assignment itself. It helps develop a deadline mentality.

I agree that the HR simulation that we have started is a great exercise. It no only allows us to make simulated management decisions, but it lets us try to accomplish this as a team. In my opinion, though, I think that both the experience in working in teams, and the experience from making management and HR decisions are of equal value. Of course it is very critical to work in groups and teams, but I don’t think we should underestimate the value of the simulation itself. This class is about management and I think that actually making management decisions is the best way for us to learn and gain experience.

I agree with the previous comments of how the simulation builds management related skills. With the other classes offered thus far I think the simulation is the most realistic and practical way of teaching students who want to become successful managers. The one problem I have with the simulation is we don't know what kind of business we are running. In my experience different types of business require different managerial tactics. For example if your in a service related market manpower and time are the focus. In a manufacturing invironment production is the focus.

I agree that working in teams is very beneficial in this HR simulation. Working in teams also teaches each individual how to deal with others in a professional manner. If because of personal differences, you don't get along with someone, it makes you learn how to deal with the situation. It also teachs everyone how to work efficiently and make deadlines. These management realated skills that are being learned will be valuable in later jobs.

I agree with what all of the comments above said. I guess the professors are just trying to give us a taste of what the real world is like. They want us to manage our time and our teammates. Since most people learn better from hands-on experience, this approach makes sense, even if it is frustrating.
