Compensation 10/12/06

The topic of discussion in our last lecture was compensation. Before when I thought compensation I generally only considered fringe benefits however know I realize that there is so much more that counts as compensation. I had heard of stocks and bond options but did not really understand how they worked and how they could be compensation. After the discussion yesterday however I realize that options are not always good and can sometimes benefit the company more than the employees. I plan on using what I learned in today in our team’s decision plan for the next quarter.

Martin,

please also double-check what you heard from me about how stocks and options plans may differ in their motivational effects with what is in the textbooks about employee benefits.

Also, please stop by at some point so I can walk you through how to edit this entry for punctuation and grammar.
