Mozilla Calendar

As a rather absentminded Mozilla devotee who frequently needs scheduling help from computers, whiteboards, and post-its, I was pleased to notice that Mozilla is building a standalone calendar application. The calendar extension for Firefox is... Well, it's a calendar, but it's not a lot beyond that.

I use an HP Jornada 720, so if they get this project done and someone comes up with an extension to sync with the Handheld PC OS, I'll be thrilled to add this to my lineup of Mozilla products. I strongly dislike Outlook -- in my experience it's a truly lousy piece of software -- but there aren't any other applications that talk nicely to the little computer.

Beyond some capacity for synchronization, I'd really like to see the calendar program set up to talk with Thunderbird so as to make use of the Address Book (which itself could use a little expanding). This thing has some great possiblities for allowing users to quickly access any and all relevant data to scheduled events, if they play it right.

(And if they don't get it, I can always hope that Google will come up with some system for handling such data. I can put that in a basket with my hope that Google will design a piece of music software that lets you actually organize your music library -- I'd tackle that one myself, but at a glance it seems a tad big for a summer project.)
