Professor Michael Sherraden is the creator of the widely-praised Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), a matched savings program designed to help the working poor save money and accumulate assets. IDA’s have been adopted into federal legislation and exist in more than 40 states. Dr. Sherraden is the founder and director of the Center for Social Development at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University.
