Social Work Research and Use of Systems: Beyond E-Mail, a Primer on Putting the Internet to Work for You

Date: Friday, October 5
Time: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Mandel School
CEUs: Two hours of CEU credit is available
Cost: All MSASS lectures are free of charge. CEU credits are $18 per lecture

Many of us still don't use the vast resource of websites or libraries on-line to problem solve social work issues. Whether you don't know how to use electronic resources beyond e-mail, or are clueless about what is available out there, this workshop is for you. The Mandel School’s Harris Library staff will show you how to access various library systems and internet websites. For the more advanced, they may even suggest sites that are new to you. No matter your level of proficiency, bring your questions with you. Class size is limited so reserve soon.

Additional Mandel School weekend participation includes:

  • Also Friday, October 5 - David Shipler, author of “The Working Poor”, will kick off Alumni Weekend with a discussion of his books. He will be introduced by MSASS Professor Mark Joseph, whose scholarly interests include urban poverty and community development. There is a charge for this University event.
  • Saturday, October 6 – MSASS will participate in a University–wide “Back to Class” event where several Schools’ across campus will discuss current issues relevant to their specialties. MSASS will focus on Cleveland’s ranking as #1 in poverty in the country. The panel will be composed of leading faculty members. CEU’s will be available.
