NEO CANDO Update: USPS/Hud Vacant Addresses

12.jpg

Second quarter (June 2007) United States Postal Service (USPS) data from HUD on addresses and vacant addresses have been added as to the Social and Economic report in NEO CANDO for all 17 counties.

In Cuyahoga County, these data are available at the Census Tract, Neighborhood, Township (MCD), City/Village, Cleveland Planning District, DCFS Geodistrict, and County levels. In other counties, these data are only available at the Census Tract and County levels. These data will be updated quarterly.

The USPS vacancy data includes all vacant addresses, including commercial addresses. Because commercial structures and multifamily dwellings have multiple addresses/mailboxes, these vacancy numbers may not correlate to the number of vacant structures in a given geography.

The NEO CANDO documentation is not prepared yet for these data. Please visit the following links for more information on this source:

NEO CANDO, Northeast Ohio Community and Neighborhood Data for Organizing, is a free and publicly accessible social and economic data system of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development. NEO CANDO allows users to access data for the entire 17 county Northeast Ohio region, or for specific neighborhoods within Cleveland.
