Is welfare reform helping mothers achieve economic independence?
Lillian F. Harris Professor Claudia Coulton has been examining outcomes following welfare reform since soon after the reform legislation was signed into law.
Dr. Coulton has examined all aspects of how former welfare recipients have fared in the wake of reform, from employment to housing and food hardships. This article addresses Dr. Coulton's research into whether welfare reform has helped mothers achieve economic independence.
