Prints from Zygote Press Artists

Exhibit Dates: March 27 – May 19, 2008.

Zygote Press was founded in 1995 by Elizabeth Maugans (BFA ’89 KSU) and Joe Sroka, joined later by Bellamy Printz and Kelly Novak, to provide print facilities for artists interested in creating fine prints. Since its inception, Zygote Press has grown to offer many additional educational programs and exhibition opportunities in its expanded facilities.

These include an Artist-in-Residence Program, annually inviting artists to produce printworks collaboratively with master printers at Zygote Press; and an Ohio Arts Council sponsored Foreign Exchange Residency Program bringing German artists to Cleveland and sending Ohio artists to Dresden, Germany to produce new works in print, and numerous educational outreach programs with various schools and universities.

Zygote Press is the only open studio, collaborative printshop of its kind in the Northeast Ohio area, and provides an invaluable resource for artists, students, print collectors, and the general public through its printing facilities, programming, gallery and archives. The press provides facilities for intaglio, lithography and screenprinting. Zygote Press does have internships for students who wish to further their knowledge and understanding of printmaking. Many students and faculty of the School of Art have been, and continue to be, involved with the development of Zygote Press.
