NEO CANDO Update: Social and Economic Data

foreclosure by tract

In this Update:

  • 2006-2009 Foreclosure filings
  • 2006-2009 Foreclosure filings (quarterly data)
  • 2006-2009 Foreclosure filings (cumulative data)
  • 2000-2009 Sheriff’s sales
  • 2000-2009 Sheriff’s sales (quarterly data)

If you haven’t noticed, new property indicators have been added to the Social and Economic data interface within NEO CANDO. Users can now access aggregated foreclosure filings and sheriff sales data through Social and Economic data in NEO CANDO. Data are available annually, quarterly, and cumulatively (for foreclosure filings).

    Foreclosure Filings
NEO CANDO’s foreclosure filings data updates weekly (usually on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning). Quarterly data will be updated at the close of each quarter. Annual data (for say 2009) is updated as a running total each week. The data label in NEO CANDO will tell you when the data are through.

  • You can get foreclosure filings data for all parcels or just residential parcels.
  • You can get foreclosure filings by these categories: mortgage, tax, BOR, or other. Other foreclosure filings include tax lien certificate foreclosure filings.
  • Unduplicated foreclosure filings [foreclosure filings (cumulative data)] are the number of properties with at least one foreclosure filings since Jan 1, 2006.

Below is a map showing the percent of residential parcels having a mortgage foreclosure filing between Jan 1, 2006 and Aug 14, 2009 by census tract. Notice that some census tracts have up to 25% of residential parcels with a foreclosure filing.

    Sheriff Sales
NEO CANDO’s sheriff’s sales data in the Social and Economic data interface are updated monthly using the Auditor’s version of recorded Sheriff’s deeds (foreclosure deeds in other parts of the country).

  • You can get sheriff’s sale data for all parcels or just residential parcels.
