Dr Rob Fischer, Co-Director of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development and Research Associate Professor of the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, received the Roberta O'Keefe Recognition Award for outstanding service to Ohio Program Evaluators' Group (OPEG) in May 2011. A long time board member, Dr. Fischer served as President to the OPEG board from 2005 to 2011.

OPEG recognized Dr. Fischer's long time service, stating the organization and its members were "well-served by his steady, guiding hand and wealth of institutional and historical knowledge." At the same ceremony, Dr. Kimberly Downing, Co-Director of the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati, was awarded the OPEG Evaluation Recognition Award.

Dr. Fischer also had something to give OPEG at the time of his award, a surprise in the form of a poem he had written about his experiences with the organization titled "Ode to OPEG".
