Parade the Circle
Posted by Nicole Sharp on 11 June 2005 at 17:47Today was University Circle's annual Parade the Circle celebration, and Mark and I went down to watch the parade and explore a bit. The parade got off to a late start--in fact we were on the verge of giving up wandering through booths when it suddenly came--but we caught it. It was really nice to see such a colorful and family-friendly display. I also appreciated the lack of advertising of each group that participated. That made it seem much more like a small community event rather than an event in a big city.
A few photos and links to more pictures are included below.

Although there were a lot of people on stilts, these two really impressed me. The woman was hoola-hooping on stilts, and the man was kicking and dancing much more than the others.

Here I was, minding my own business, when, all of sudden, the Spanish Inquisition popped up, yelling, "Confess! Confess!" I really did not expect it.
Many more photos are uploaded here on Flickr. Poking around on there will likely reveal more photos, including some of me, some of Cleveland, and several biorobotics-related pictures.
At the parade, I ran into Chris Sheridan, who asked me, among other things, about this blog. It never ceases to amaze me that people do apparently look at this thing. To answer your question, Chris, I intend to keep writing in this blog until Case takes it away from me, at which point, I plan to download all of my entries and import them into a new blog. Slightly ego-maniacal, but I like keeping track of memories. Letting this get erased would be kind of like burning a journal, and, having thrown out stories I've written before, I realize how unpleasant it is to have lost some portion of my life out of my own stupidity.

On 11 June 2005 at 19:52Nicole, to put your mind at a bit of ease, there are no plans nor any discussions of plans to ever "reclaim" a Blog@Case weblog. I am a very strong proponent of permanent URLs, so I don't ever see that becoming the case.
However, in terms of a person's access to his or her Blog@Case blog, well... that one is still up in the air. When a person changes from a "student@case.edu" to an "alum@case.edu," right now, yes, that person will no longer be able to log in to his or her blog to create new posts. That would all be solved by opening up access to the blogs to Case alumni.
Which may happen.
We're still trying to run the numbers on how much something like that would cost. I think we should, but numbers speak louder than an engineer just saying we should.
