Spammers

I think I've gotten around 20 spam trackbacks on here in the last 36 hours. This is just ridiculous. Is anyone else getting pounded?

    I too have been getting massively spammed. Also, some guy keeps posting lame unrelated general comments and linking to a casino site in his name. EX: "Great site! Keep it running!

    Is there anything we can do to fight this spam? I will look into the stuff jeremy implimented. Check out the "Spam Lookup" feature located on the bottom half of the main menu.

    Eric,

    I've been going through and marking things as spam, but, as Jeremy has discovered, there's something wrong with the code for the spam plug-in when it comes to trackbacks because it's been allowing blacklisted URLs through. I expect things will go back to normal once that's repaired.

    I find that spam tends to come in waves. I'll go a couple days with lots of spam on my other blog, and then there will be a couple weeks of near silence.

    Yes, this morning when I opened my mail I had a huge list of spam trackbacks. None arrived after that though.

    Jeremy's disabled trackbacks for the moment, so we won't be getting any more spam from them for awhile.

    It drives everyone nuts, I'm sure. I got up this morning to 4 trackback spams, but there haven't been any since, thank goodness.

    Just be glad you don't have the spam volume my Case email account gets. Before I left at the end of May I was seeing between 400 and 500 garbage messages PER DAY. (My email address used to appear on over 3000 web pages so I'm a little surprised it isn't more.)
