A Bit of SAGES Silliness
Posted by Nicole Sharp on 27 July 2005 at 10:14Campus is starting to gear up for the school year again now that August is nearly upon us. In an attempt to prepare, I braved the humidity for a trip to the bookstore yesterday to check on prices for my engineering textbooks, and, as often happens when I get out of my lab, I ran into someone I know through SAGES. In this case, it was Arthur Evenchik, one of the supervisors of my tutoring work with the SAGES Peer Writing Crew (and I will be resurrecting that blog soon). E-mails and such for that job have already started flying and between planning for that blog and contributing to our wiki, SAGES is creeping back into my engineering-fortified brain.
In a fit of pure silliness this morning, I decided to check the Net's Googlisms for SAGES, and here are a few of the gems, (along with the commentary I couldn't resist including):
- sages is a very powerful tool for god - I think it could be dangerous to speak the name of God, but I'm sure most people can guess who I'm thinking of.
- sages is quite sure you will love our products whether you are the original purchaser or the recipient of a gift - That's right. Whether you chose to come to Case or your parents chose for you, you will love SAGES. We'll make certain of it.
- sages is in the second year of its pilot phase - Amazingly, we have a googlism that actually applies to SAGES, despite being out of date.
- sages is compatible with the meditation of the yoga sutras - In fact, I may have read a few thanks to SAGES.
- sages is probably cleveland or musk sage - But only probably. We're waiting for confirmation on that.
- sages is populated with many of the world's most learned men and women - Yet another victory in the march toward being "the most powerful learning environment in the world" *cues evil, maniacal laughter*
- sages is committed in improving interpersonal relationship among the students - This is why SAGES will be unveiling a new dating service along with full implementation.
- sages is proof of your meritorious acts - I'm keeping my mouth shut here.
- sages is the fastest path to enlightenment - Take that Ivy League!
- sages is proud to announce that 6 young trainee gastroenterologists are attending a 2 week course in amsterdam and zwolle in the netherlands in october - Now... is the Office of the President paying for that one or is that on Dean Turner's tab?
- sages is to question - I can't argue with this. It's true.
I wonder how many other amusing things we could find about aspects of Case life by searching through Googlisms...
