The Bank
I realized yesterday that the "bank" metaphor is used more often now in genetic research projects - the term "biobank" for stored tissue repositories, the name "GeneBank" for the CCF cardiovascular study, the proposed "StoryBank" for collecting medical narratives ... and now the GREAT system for the Cancer Center, which is essentially a Family History Bank.
I wonder why this particular term has been increasingly popular, as opposed to say, bio-collection or bio-library, which would seem to work equally well.
