Digital object that exists in multiple collections
There is currently an issue in DigitalCase concerning searching for a digital object that exists in multiple collections. If object A exists in collections B and C, when searching for the object(A) it will only show up in the search results for either collection B or collection C, but not in both. If you are not specifying a specific collection on your search (which would mean a basic search), there is nothing to worry about. However if you use the advanced search page to search only specific collections, the issue may arise. As of now we believe the problem exists only in the four University Archives collections. A fix for the issue is planned but a release date is unknown at this time.

Search Performance Improved & New features Added
UPDATE 2/13/09
We have re-worked our simple search function to allow for a "Search within Results" feature. This new feature, while greatly enhancing performance, also allows users of the simple search function, move from a very general search result set to a more granular result. Try it out for yourself at: http://library.case.edu/digitalcase/SearchResults.aspx?q=case

Resolved: Browsing of ETANA Collection
***** Resolved 9:00am 9/11/08 *****
This has been resolved. See following URL for example:
http://library.case.edu/digitalcase/BrowseCollections.aspx?CollectionType=collections&Letter=E&ContentType=All&Page=1&ItemsPerPage=5&PID=
DigitalCase browse - currently browsing in digital case does not support collections within collections. When you click “browse collections” and click on the “E” tab, all I get are the collections for ETDs and the ECH collection–no ETANA. Should see Etana which is a sub collection of KSL Digital Books. Need to modify the materialized view for collections as well as the presentation screen.

Resolved: Paging Control while Browsing Collections
***** Resolved 3:00pm 8/29/08 *****
Currently while browsing and Exhibit Collection or Case Scholarship Collection the URL is being malformed when attempting to navigate beyond the initial page, The following is URL when you first click on the Case Scholarship collection:
http://library.case.edu/digitalcase/browseCollections.aspx?collectionType=CaseScholarship
This is the URL that is created when you click page 2:
http://library.case.edu/digitalcase/BrowseCollections.aspx?Letter=&ContentType=All&Page=2&ItemsPerPage=5&PID=
And this is what the URL should be:
http://library.case.edu/digitalcase/browseCollections.aspx?collectionType=CaseScholarship&Page=2&ItemsPerPage=5&PID=

Resolved: Alphabetical Sorting on Collection Title
Now Available:It has been brought to our attention that DigitalCase's default browse interface is only sorting ascending on the first character of the title. We are working to put a fix in place that will sort on the entire title. The problem can be evidenced by clicking the letter 'c' from the collection browse screens. We should have a fix in place by 8/1/08

Regionally Speaking
A collection of programs moderated by Gladys Haddad, Professor of American Studies and Director of the Western Reserve Studies Symposium called Regionally Speaking has been added to Digital Case. These conversational interviews engage community experts and leaders to discuss important issues for the City of Cleveland.
Beginning in May 2007 with "University Circle: A destination and a neighborhood," Regionally Speaking engaged civic leaders about this important center of excellence in Northeast Ohio. The collection includes the complete audio files, as well as links to the mpeg versions.
In 2008, Regionally Speaking begins a specific focus on Neighborhood Progress, Inc. and its six Strategic Investment Initiative neighborhoods: Buckeye, Detroit-Shoreway, Fairfax, Glenville, Slavic Village and Tremont. These programs were announced in advance and listeners were also invited to join the conversation posting questions and comments. The programs produced at Case Western Reserve University were originally broadcast on its affiliated radio station WRUW-FM 91.1.

Search Improvements...
UPDATE 2/13/09
We have re-worked our simple search function to allow for a "Search within Results" feature. Last week we communicated that we were experiencing slow performance when executing searches in digital case. As of May 13th, we have made a patch to Digital Case, reducing the maximum search result time from 15 seconds to 8 seconds. We are still working to improve performance to achieve a near instantaneous search/sort experience.

WPA Print Images
We are currently experiencing an issue displaying certain images from the WPA prints collection.
Specifically the jpeg 2000 viewer has a problem loading particular images. We have put a quick patch in place to disable the zoom, pan, flash control for these images so they display as basic jpg images. This seems to be consistent across various browsers. We are working with our image server vendor, Aware, to correct this behavior.
