New York Public Library's Images Go Online
NYPL comes to you, if you can't get to the Big Apple! Explore 275,000 images (soon to be 500,000) from the new NYPL Digital Image Gallery. Browse rare books and check out the "Curators Choice" link. Find posters, photographs, sheet music covers, dust jacket art, menus, cigarette cards, prints, maps, architectural blueprints, illuminated manuscripts, and more.
Categories: One of the best ways to begin is to mouse over any of the left-side "Explore" categories, to see sample images appear (mouse over them to reveal their details), and the brief category descriptions — then click on each of the six categories to reveal the rich collections within:
• Arts & Literature
• Cities & Buildings
• Culture & Society
• History & Geography
• Industry & Technology
• Nature & Science
• Printing & Graphics
"Browse" Names A-Z, Subjects (23,000 subject terms), or Libraries. Advanced Search let you limit by date (beginning with 800 A.D.), Boolean terms, captions, notes, author, artist, and within the Centers or Divisions of the Research Libraries.
Get lost in the galleries, and then use "Search History" to find your way again. You can save up to 50 selections at a time, for return browsing. Enjoy the best of libraries and technology, in this New York Public Library Digital Gallery Collection.
Conditions of Use section has further information on saving selections, using Pan & Zoom, etc., and the statement of use "for individual private study, scholarship and research only." Also find: Users's Guide, FAQ, Reproductions & Permissions information.
