Safari Tech Books Online Adds Customized RSS Functions
Want to read the "Secrets of the iPod & iTunes" or other new books on wireless networks, game programming, or your favorite web application? Is your interest in technology primarily for other related business disciplines?

Use Safari's new custom RSS feeds to automatically find out when a new title is added to a specific e-book category. It's better than browsing (although you can search for the newest books by a favorite publisher) and gets the top new titles to you faster than you would find them by browsing.

Save Time @KSL, with the new 3M SelfCheck!
When you only have a few minutes and there's a line at the Main Service Desk at KSL....or when you're in the library at 2:00 a.m. or 6:30 a.m. when a Security Officer is there, you now have the option of using our new 3M V-1 SelfCheck machine. You can check out in three languages, if you'd like to practice your Chinese or Korean or English, too.
Get your book, check it out on the SelfCheck, take your receipt, and get on with your schedule! It's fast, easy (screen graphics and onscreen instructions in the upper left corner), and fun. Your receipt has reminders about renewing online, the Hours Hotline, and the homepage url--good for finding answers to how to renew, what Regular Business Hours are, and more.
Catch a glimpse of the SelfCheck in the photo of none other than President Hundert using it this weekâhe's holding his receipt in his hand. Find the SelfCheck right on the Main Service Desk, next to library staff who will help you through the steps the first time!

President Hundert @KSL During the Freedman Center Dedication
Step up to the new 3M V-1 SelfCheck Machine at KSL, and save yourself some time. If you're running late to class or a meeting, don't wait in line--use the SelfCheck machine installed at the Main Service Desk. When there's a line and you're in a hurry, use it to check out your KSL books, get your receipt, and get to your next destination.
President Hundert is one of the first customers, checking out books during the Freedman Center Dedication on September 8. "This is great!" (see more photos from the Freedman Center Dedication.)
SelfCheck is easy, with graphics to guide you, screen instructions in the upper left corner, and desk staff nearby to help you the first time. It's fast, and easy:
- Swipe your Case ID in the card reader
- Open your book to the back and place the barcode under the infra-red light
- Place your book in the V-shaped counter
- Watch the book titles appear onscreen in a list...
- Print your receipt, and you're done!
SelfCheck saves time and also expands library services beyond regular business hours--get what you need, when you need it, and check it out @ KSL at 6:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. during 24x7 Service. Our special thanks to Provost John L. Anderson, for funding the 3M SelfCheck, a great new service for the Case community!
