Engineering Reading Room - Update

The Engineering Reading Room, located in Nord Hall 508, provides a convenient location for Engineering faculty and students to utilize some of Kelvin Smith Library's resources in the few precious moments between classes or other responsibilities. The Engineering Reading Room includes access to a computer, a collection of various engineering-related journal titles, Kelvin Smith Library announcements, and regular office hours by the Engineering, Mathematics, & Statistics Librarian.

New Office Location
Brian Gray, the Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics Librarian, holds regular office hours in Nord Hall 510. The office is located in the hallway that connects Nord Hall and Sears Hall. Office hours are posted in the Engineering Reading Room (Nord 508), on the door of Nord 510, or on the Engineering Reading Room web site.

Lunch & Tour at the Library of the Western Reserve Historical Society

NewspaperARCHIVE adds 2 New Free Archives

If you love newspapers as a portal to the past, logon to the KSL homepage news item about the NewspaperARCHIVE.com new additions: Immigration and Global Warming Archives. More than simply historical newspapers, this site reveals details of eras from the 1880s...to today, in its advertising, sports, news events, cars, and more featured sections, including Timelines.

Whether you're interested in the debate concerning U.S. Mexican border security or how a lawn mower might harm the ozone layer (including pending legislation in western states to license lawn mowers & thus control the emissions), these archives provide rich research (full text and images) from varied local papers about the issues of generations. Take a look.

First Video Podcast Honors Samuel B. Freedman 1915-2006

In 2005, KSL opened the Samuel B. and Marian K. Freedman Freedman Digital Library, Language Learning, and Multimedia Services Center, with the Freedmans in attendance. See and hear the Grand Opening ceremonies, and learn more about its founder, through the first KSL Video Podcast of the Freedman Center Grand Opening.

The recent death of Samuel Freedman gives us a chance to honor his life and note his interests in technologies, through this Podcast.

Created by Aaron Shaffer, the Podcast is an edited version of the original taped ceremonies and speakers. (Subscribe in iTunes itunes.jpg) and then read the Freedman Center Blog, with commentary by University Librarian Joanne Eustis, on some of Mr. Freedman's notable accomplishments.
