Renowned Book Expert Paul Ruxin Speaks @KSL on 11/16: 18th Cent. Association Copies
Owner of one of the most complete private collections of Samuel Johnson, James Boswell, and their contemporaries, Paul Ruxin appears at KSL on Thursday, November 16th. A 4:00 p.m. wine and cheese reception and a KSL Special Collections book display precedes Mr. Ruxin's 5:00 p.m. presentation on how "association copies" can give you a physical connection with the past.
Association copies are those items associated in some way with now-famous historical figures and their contemporaries. Copies owned by them offer insight into what they read & collected, thereby putting into our hands what was literally held in their hands. The items' ownership and/or notations offer a rich opportunity for those interested in literary and historical research.
Join us on Thursday, Nov. 16 (4:00 p.m.reception, 5:00 p.m. talk) in the 2nd floor Dampeer Room at KSL. Seating is limited to 60 on a first-come basis.
More details are available on our flyer--please print and use it as a reminder for you and your colleagues, this notable event!
