Summer Projects Keep Collections Moving in KSL This Summer
Looking for an item that the Case Catalog says is located in Reference? It's on the move, this summer!
Since KSL opened in 1996, most of the Reference collection has been on the 2nd floor. The working reference collection is moving to the main floor and reference items not as heavily used (or older editions) will move up to the 3rd floor. You'll see that the "Ref" mark will be crossed out with black marker, but they will still be used in the library only, and they will be shelved near similar items that circulate.
KSL summer projects also will result in other books shifting & government documents moving, while the reference items move both to the 1st & 3rd floor. It's like dominoes...somethings have to move first before their spaces are ready:
Look for some of the Reference works to be temporarily staged on the 3rd floor in 2 places, while space is adjusted:
1) In the area of "G" books, near where you enter through the double doors on the 3rd floor. Shelving signs say "Project Reference Overflow Items."
2) At the end of the shelving units, overlooking Thwing Center, large/oversized Reference works will be temporarily staged, and signs will say "Project Reference Move Items (Lge/Oversized) ."
Looking for a Reference item but can't find it?
Ask the desk staff for assistance, they'll be glad to tell you where the Project Reference Overlow areas are, and help you locate what you need, faster.
