Brian Gray, Engineering, Math, and Statistics librarian at Kelvin Smith Library, received a Quantum2 InfoStar award at the recent midwinter conference of the American Library Association. Quantum2 awards feature information professionals with individual achievement in leadership, innovation, and partnerships in teaching & learning.
Brian earns the first academic librarian InfoStar award from Thomson Scientific, a major vendor of research resources such as ISI Web of Knowledge, Journal Citation Reports, Endnote, and more.
"It wasn't just honoring me, but honoring the library as a whole, for all things we've done," Brian said when learning about the award. Brian has dual offices, both in KSL and in the Engineering school about 10-20 hours a week, bringing KSL to where classes and faculty are. The InfoStar Award page has an interview that features his work and Kelvin Smith Library.
Thomson's main page will highlight Brian's award along with former InfoStars, for approximately one month. The photo here was taken on the ALA exhibit floor, where thousands of colleagues had a chance to meet him, learn about the award and Quantum2 leadership programs, and meet Thomson senior staff like Betty Jo Hibbard, Quantum2 Management Team, pictured below with Brian.
ISI Web of Knowledge and Journal Citation Reports are available to faculty, staff, and students at Case and can be found on the Research Tools page, from the KSL homepage. An active VPN connection is required for remote access, as well as your Case network ID & password.
