Honoring America's Armed Forces--KSL Exhibit Cases
Flags from WWI & WWII, folded 13 times on 13 triangles and representing the original 13 colonies, are amongst the items in KSL's current Special Collections Exhibit Cases in the library lobby. Like the tri-cornered hats worn by the American Revolution patriots fighting for future generations' freedoms, the triangular-folded flags honor our armed forces past and present.
Exhibit cases present both WWI and WWII flags along with a copy of the 2008 Presidential Proclamation for Veteran's Day, the annual holiday honoring America's veterans. Other exhibit cases include medals and ribbons, including a Bronze Star, fragments of Civil War documents, a copy of an Abraham Lincoln endorsement (original in the Special Collections Department), other original documents, and troop photos from the 1800s & 1900s. Photos and items highlight those who served, including the WWII Army Nurse Corps, and books & photos of Native American and African-American soldiers in WWII.
Come to KSL and see the Exhibit Cases in honor of Veterans' Day 2008.
Exhibit cases prepared by the Kelvin Smith Library Special Collections Department.
