Honoring All Who Served...Veterans Day Salute at KSL

Kelvin Smith Library lobby exhibit cases hold treasures from the Civil War to today, and honor the nation's veterans. From the first day honoring war dead in 1919 by President Wilson, to President Obama's 2009 proclamation honoring veterans throughout time, the exhibit offers photos, documents, books, and more.

The exhibit features tri-folded flags presented to families of deceased veterans from WWI and WWII, along with medals, military documents, awards, and dog tags. U.S. Army Nurses are featured, as are Civil War photos from the 1860s, and several books highlight efforts of African American and Native American soldiers.

From the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs read more information about Veterans Day with links to the history of Veterans Day, a Veterans Day Poster gallery from 1978 to 2009, a FAQ with distinctions between Veterans Day & Memorial Day, and a U.S. Census Bureau demographic fact sheet about the 23.3 million U.S. veterans (2008 data), by region, service branch, gender, and more.

Thank you for posting this Karen! Being a Veteran myself, my hat goes off to all of the Veterans of the past and those who are yet to be.
